We make gender-neutral jodhpurs for modern-day living.
Their cut and construction are based on a pair that belonged to a soldier posted to West Africa in the 1950s. He wore them to play polo. Years later they were worn by his daughter on the beach. Over half a century on, that same pair are worn by her son just because. He founded Auld Friend in 2018.
And so the journey to creating our jodhpurs began. A tailor in London traced over the original pair to create a pattern which evolved as we refined the shape and sampled different materials and fabrics, all found in the UK. The final step was to find a factory to make them. And so we did – in the north of England.
We’re an online only business, so you’ll only find our jodhpurs here. In fact, these kinds of classic jodhpurs aren’t easy to find anywhere else.
Our name is inspired by that original pair – and all those things, pieces of clothing or otherwise, that somehow become alive. Because they hold the memory of moments.
